It’s not a question of whether to visit Melbourne, with the city holding the coveted title of ‘Worlds Most Liveable City’ for seven years in a row. The question becomes, where will you spend your time in Melbourne this summer, with so many hotspots and attractions coming to life in the warmer months? Relax, we’ve got you covered.

At Q Squared, we’re pleased to welcome so many guests to our doors during the summertime, ready for some sunny exploration. Whether you are here for a short or long stay, here are the must-see hotspots and attractions to include in your Melbourne summer itinerary.

Australian Open

Australian Open is something that sits high on the bucket list of many Australians, with this annual event welcoming attendees from across the globe. Whether you live and die by the racquet or not, the Open offers more than just the big names in tennis battling it out. You can also see a huge lineup of local and international music acts, with Billy Idol, Grinspoon, Hot Tub Time Machine and Matt Corby just a few of the acts announced for the duration of the event. Familiarise yourself with the Australian Open tournament schedule, and plan your stay around your favourite players. Rod Laver Arena is accessible through the tram network from Q Squared, with many of the trams free during the Open.

Sidney Myer Free Concerts

You have to give it to Melbournians – when the weather is right, there is nothing stopping them from sprawling out on the closest patch of grass and basking in the summer atmosphere. This is perfectly captured with Sidney Myer’s free concerts throughout the near year, allowing visitors to come with a picnic blanket and snacks to enjoy some free music. The best part is that Sidney Myer Music Bowl is in close proximity to the city, and not too far from Q Squared on the tram.

St Kilda Festival

St Kilda can feel like you’re at a festival at the best of times, but in February the area kicks it up a notch to bring free music, great food and an atmosphere that you can’t find anywhere else. This year’s St Kilda Festival will have DZ Deathrays, The Preatures and The Cat Empire playing on the main stage that sits on the beachfront. If that doesn’t sound like your scene, you can partake in some bubble soccer, or try your feet at some Latin dancing classes. A trip to St Kilda is always a memorable one, so earmark this as a fun way to kick-off 2020.

BeerFest Melbourne 2020

When it comes to Melbourne hot spots and attractions, it doesn’t get more interesting and jolly than BeerFest. Expect great food, music, comedy and more beer than you thought conceivably possible. This event highlights up and comer breweries, while also honouring those cult classics that everyone loves a pint of. If you’re looking for a unique experience and an all-round good day, join that masses that descended on St Kilda for BeerFest. Due to the growing popularity of this event, it is expected to sell out so get your tickets early and get ready for a hop-filled February.

This is just a small collection of the many wonders that unfold in Melbourne during summer. If you would like to plan your stay or find out how to spend your Melbourne escape, contact Q Squared and our team of experts will point you in the direction of the best room and a fun-filled itinerary.
